Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to fit.golf (formerly Clubfit.golf), the free golf club fitting tools operated by GolferX, Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our”). It explains what we collect, how we use it, which third parties receive data when you use this site, and how long we keep it.

What We Collect

  • Swing and fitting data: Metrics you provide by uploading a launch-monitor report (a PDF, or a PNG, JPEG or WebP screenshot; the shaft tool accepts PDFs only), by pasting a shared launch-monitor report link (currently TrackMan; our server fetches the report from TrackMan), by typing numbers in, or by answering the guided questionnaire (swing speed, ball speed, spin, launch and attack angle, descent angle and apex height, typical miss, goals, handicap, and similar). This includes any clubs you tell us you currently play (such as your driver, loft, shaft and top-of-bag clubs) and any brand or shaft preferences. Uploaded files are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to read the numbers and are not stored by us. Anything else printed on the report, such as a player name, is sent to Anthropic with the file, but we do not keep it.
  • Zip code: Required when you submit a driver or top-of-bag fitting. We store it with that fitting’s session record, which is deleted after 90 days, and may use it for internal regional analysis, such as counting fittings by the first three digits of the zip code. Your zip code is not used to generate recommendations and is not sent to our AI provider or analytics tools.
  • Email address: We collect an email address only when you choose to email fitting results: a driver result through “Email this result” (to up to five people, and to yourself if you add your own address), or a top-of-bag result to yourself through “Email this fit.” The email contains your fitting details and recommendations. When you email results, we keep a record of the send that includes your email address, your name if you give it, and your IP address. Recipients’ addresses (up to five) and any note you add are used only to deliver the message through our email provider, Resend, and are not stored.
  • Session identifiers: When you load a fitting tool, your browser generates a random session ID that is not based on your name, email or device. When you complete a driver or top-of-bag fitting, we store that ID with a fitting record containing the swing data and equipment details you entered, your zip code, the recommendations shown, a device-type label (mobile or desktop, inferred from your browser window’s width) and how you reached the site (referring page, landing page, campaign (UTM) tags, and whether you have visited before). These records are deleted automatically after 90 days. A new ID is generated when you reload the site, so several fittings in one visit may share an ID. We use it to group our analytics events (see below); it is not added to Shop links. On its own the ID does not identify you. But if you share your driver results or email yourself your top-of-bag results, we store the ID with your email address and IP address, so that fitting can be linked to you. We do not look up your location from your IP address ourselves, but our analytics providers may derive an approximate location, such as your country or city, from it.
  • Usage and analytics data: We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to record how you use the site. This covers pages viewed; clicks on key buttons and links (such as Shop links); time on page and when you leave; how far you scroll on results pages; which form fields you select (the field name only, never what you type); when a fitting starts, finishes or fails, with general details such as handicap, swing-speed range and the recommended club; any helpfulness rating you give; and how you arrived (referring site, campaign tags, landing page and whether you have visited before). PostHog also makes session recordings of your on-screen activity. Everything you type into form fields is masked, and so is text that may show a name, such as a player name read from your report; other text shown on the page is not. This data is collected as individual events. In PostHog these are linked to your random fitting session ID, not to your name or email, and we never send your name or email to PostHog. Our analytics providers also receive your IP address and browser information. We review this data in aggregate to improve the product.
  • Data from The Grint (optional): If you choose Connect TheGrint, you sign in on The Grint’s site and we receive an access token. We use it to fetch your Grint profile (name, country, profile photo, handicap), handedness, equipment, and recent rounds and scorecards, and use these to pre-fill your fitting. We store only the access tokens and your Grint user ID, for up to 90 days, keyed to a cookie in your browser. We do not store your name or round history. Disconnecting deletes the tokens and the cookie.
  • Ratings and purchase outcomes: Your optional answers to “Was this fitting helpful?” and “Did you buy (or plan to buy) this driver?”, stored with your session ID and the recommended driver. When a purchase follows one of our Shop links, we also store the sale report our affiliate network (Awin) sends us: transaction ID, merchant, product, sale amount, commission, currency, date, status, any voucher code, and the click reference from your click (which product, and where it ranked). Sale reports are not linked to your fitting session. We do not receive your name, contact details, payment information or address from the retailer.
  • Technical data: Your IP address, stored with records of results you email, which we use to prevent abuse and diagnose problems. To rate-limit requests we keep a one-way hash of your IP address, and of any address you email results to, for at most one day; the hash can’t be turned back into the address.

Golfers do not create accounts on fit.golf. We never ask for or store passwords or passkeys, and the site has no saved-equipment (“My Bag”) feature. We do not collect personal data beyond what is listed here.

How We Use It

  • Generating fitting recommendations and the explanations that come with them.
  • Improving our recommendation engine and the site’s user experience. Data you give fit.golf is not used to edit the equipment specifications in our catalogs.
  • Pooling fitting outcomes so golfers with a similar profile benefit from what works. We group fittings into broad profile groups (swing-speed band, handicap range and typical miss) and keep running counts, for each driver, of how often we recommended it and how often golfers rated that fitting helpful or not helpful. These pooled counts contain no identifier; the helpfulness counts can slightly adjust future driver recommendations. Purchases never do. The counts are never shared in a way that identifies an individual. The individual rating records behind them are kept separately and linked to a session ID, as described in What We Collect and Data Retention.
  • Affiliate attribution and commission reporting.
  • Diagnosing errors and preventing abuse.

Measured Fitting Data & Model Learning

To improve our recommendations, when you import a launch-monitor report link that compares two or more sessions (currently TrackMan) and pick a session, we copy each session’s averages into a separate model-learning dataset. For each session we copy the equipment label from the report, the club type and shot count, and average club speed, ball speed, smash factor, spin, launch angle, attack angle, descent angle, apex height, carry and total distance, plus your handedness, the launch-monitor provider, and the date and time we received it. These records contain no name, email, account, session ID or IP address. Equipment labels are taken from your report’s session tags, keeping only equipment words (brands, models, lofts and club types), so a name typed into a tag is not kept. While you pick a session, we hold what TrackMan returned for up to an hour so it can be added once you accept; after that it is deleted. We pool this data across golfers to make our models better for everyone. Numbers you upload as a file, type in, or import from a single-session link are used for your fitting and kept in your fitting session record (see What We Collect), but are not added to this dataset.

This happens only after you tick the box accepting this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service; if you pick a session first, the contribution waits until you do. Contributing is part of using our free fitting tools, and there is no separate opt-out: you receive a fitting at no cost, and in return your anonymized numbers help the next golfer get a better result.

Because these records carry no identifier linking them to you, we have no reliable way to tell which ones came from you, so we generally cannot trace, retrieve or delete them individually on request. As anonymized data they are a proprietary asset of GolferX, Inc., which may keep them indefinitely, use them to operate and improve our tools, and — only in aggregated or derived form (such as statistical insights, benchmarks, and trained recommendation models) — commercialize or license them. We do not sell or license individual, record-level observations as standalone data, and they are never shared in a way that identifies an individual. This commercial use applies only to measurements we receive on or after September 1, 2026, based on the date our systems logged them rather than the date the launch-monitor session was recorded. Measurements received before that date are used only to operate and improve our own tools, including the recommendation models that run on this site. Our pooled “golfers like you” counts are used only on this site.

Our Commitments on Anonymized Data

We rely on anonymization rather than on your trust in our restraint, so we state these as commitments:

  • We take reasonable measures to keep anonymized data anonymous. Names, email addresses, accounts, session IDs and IP addresses are left out before a learning record is stored, not removed later, and equipment labels are reduced to equipment words.
  • We will not try to reidentify anonymized data. We make no attempt to link an anonymized record back to a person, and we will not do so in future.
  • Recipients are bound the same way. Anyone we give aggregated or derived data to is contractually required not to attempt reidentification, and not to pass the data on without the same obligation.
  • We do not sell the learning records or use them for advertising.

If we ever intend to depart from any of these, we will say so here first and give notice before the change takes effect.

Cookies and Trackers

We do not use cookies for advertising or analytics. fit.golf sets only functional first-party cookies. If you connect a TheGrint account, we set three cookies that expire after 10 minutes to secure the sign-in handoff, and a “grint_session” cookie, lasting up to 90 days, that lets us reuse your connection. That cookie is set when you start connecting, even if you don’t finish, and disconnecting deletes it.

Our own site code also uses your browser’s storage. It keeps a “seen before” flag in local storage, until you clear site data, to tell new visitors from returning ones. In session storage, for the current tab only, it keeps how you arrived (referring site, landing page and campaign tags). The visit and arrival details are sent with our analytics events and saved with your fitting session record. The following third parties also receive data or may set their own identifiers:

  • PostHog — product analytics and session replay. We run PostHog in memory-only mode, so it sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser’s storage, and its visitor ID resets whenever the page fully reloads. When you start a driver fitting, we link that page’s analytics events to your random fitting session ID, which creates a pseudonymous profile in PostHog. We never send your name or email to PostHog. Session recordings mask everything you type into form fields and any text that may show a name. Other text shown on the page, such as a zip code in a confirmation message, is not masked.
  • Awin — affiliate tracking, only when you click. We load no Awin script on our pages. When you click a retailer link (such as “Shop at 2nd Swing” or “View on our partner site”), including links in results we email, you pass through Awin’s redirect, which sets attribution cookies so we can receive credit if you buy.
  • Vercel Web Analytics — counts page views and the in-app events described in What We Collect. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
  • Sites you choose to visit — retailers (e.g., 2nd Swing) and TheGrint’s sign-in page set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

No other third-party scripts, pixels or embeds run on this site. Our fonts are served from our own site.

You can block cookies and trackers in your browser settings or with privacy tools such as uBlock, AdGuard or Brave Shields. The fitting tools keep working: you can still upload a report, paste a report link, enter your numbers or answer the questionnaire. The optional Connect TheGrint pre-fill needs first-party cookies, so it will not work if you block all cookies for our site. Blocking trackers may also stop us receiving affiliate credit, and some blockers may stop Shop links, which pass through Awin, from opening.

Affiliate Links and Data Passed to Merchants

fit.golf earns commissions when users click affiliate links on our site and complete qualifying purchases at partner retailers. We participate in the Awin affiliate network and currently link out to 2nd Swing.

When you click a Shop link, your browser goes through Awin’s tracking link (awin1.com) and on to the retailer. That link carries: the retailer page you are going to (a product page, or a category or search page filtered to the recommended brand and model); our Awin publisher ID and the retailer’s merchant ID; a click reference showing which product you clicked and where it ranked (for example, “head_rank1_<product>”). Like any web request, the click also sends your IP address, browser user-agent, any Awin cookies already in your browser, and on some links our site’s address as the referrer. We never put your session ID, email, zip code, name or swing measurements in these links, so neither Awin nor the retailer, nor we, can tie a click or a sale back to your fitting.

Once you land on the merchant’s site, their privacy policy applies. We do not control the data they collect, and we do not receive your name, contact details, payment information or shipping address from them. If a purchase you make after clicking one of our links qualifies for a commission, Awin sends us a sale report: the transaction ID, merchant, product, sale amount and commission, currency, date, status, any voucher code used, and the click reference from your click. We use these reports for commission reporting and to see which recommendations lead to purchases overall. Purchases never change which products we recommend or their order.

Service Providers

These providers receive the data described in this policy so they can run parts of the site for us:

  • Hosting and storage — Vercel (application hosting and serverless functions) and Upstash Redis, provisioned through Vercel, which is our application database. It stores fitting session records and ratings; records of results you email (which include your IP address); affiliate sale reports; the anonymized learning dataset and pooled counts; and, if you connect TheGrint, your connection tokens.
  • Backups — GitHub. We keep a daily backup of the anonymized learning dataset in a private GitHub repository. It is encrypted before it leaves our servers, and GitHub cannot read it.
  • AI processing — Anthropic. If you upload a launch-monitor report, we send the file to Anthropic to read your swing metrics, and anything else printed on it, such as a player name, is sent with it. For driver and top-of-bag fittings we also send your swing and fitting details (speed and launch-monitor numbers, handicap, goals and preferences, and your current clubs, plus round statistics from TheGrint in our TheGrint-connected flow) so Anthropic can write the explanation that comes with your recommendations. We do not send your email address, zip code, IP address or session ID to Anthropic. Some tools, such as the shaft fitter, produce their recommendations without Anthropic.
  • Analytics — PostHog and Vercel Analytics (see Cookies and Trackers above).
  • Email delivery — Resend. Resend delivers fitting and bag results you choose to email to the addresses you enter (including your own). We do not send you any other email.
  • Affiliate network — Awin. Awin tracks clicks on our Shop links (including links in emailed results) and reports resulting sales and commissions back to us, without any link to your fitting (see Cookies and Trackers and Affiliate Links above). The retailers we link to (currently 2nd Swing) are not our service providers. We do not send them your data, and once you click through, their own privacy policy governs what they collect.
  • Integrations you choose to use — The Grint (only if you click Connect TheGrint; see What We Collect) and TrackMan (when you paste a TrackMan report link, our server sends that report’s ID to TrackMan to retrieve its shot data).

We do not use error-tracking services, AI providers other than Anthropic, or analytics tools other than those listed here.

Data Retention

  • Fitting session records (the swing data, equipment and preferences you enter, your zip code, the recommendations shown, device type, and referral and campaign details) are deleted automatically 90 days after the fitting.
  • Records of results you email are deleted after 90 days.
  • Helpfulness and purchase ratings are kept for 12 months.
  • TheGrint connection tokens expire after 90 days, or sooner if you disconnect.
  • Affiliate sale reports are kept for our accounting records. Reports received before October 2026 may carry a link to a fitting session; it is removed 24 months after the sale. Later reports carry none.
  • A record of the profile group and driver we recommended in a fitting, used to count each fitting and rating once, is deleted after 7 days.
  • Random session IDs may remain in our internal reporting indexes after the session record itself has been deleted.
  • The anonymized learning dataset and pooled counts described above carry no identifier and may be kept indefinitely.

You may ask us to delete your personal data sooner at any time by contacting us at the address below.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email info@golferx.io and tell us the email address you used when you emailed your results, or anything else that helps us find your data. Fittings are not stored with your name or email. Each one gets a random session ID that we do not show you or save in your browser, so we can find fitting data only when it is linked to an email address you gave us during that fitting.

Records in our anonymized learning dataset, and our pooled “golfers like you” counts, carry no session ID, email, account or IP address, so we have no reliable way to tell which came from you and generally cannot retrieve or delete them individually. Other fitting data, such as your session record and ratings, is linked to a random session ID and can be located and deleted when it is connected to an email address you gave us.

Children

Our site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the date at the top.
